We are excited to have recently achieved the topping out milestone for our project 21 Moorfields. In a ceremony led by contractors Sir Robert McAlpine, the project team celebrated this major milestone for the City landmark, situated directly above Moorgate Underground Station in London.
Once completed, the 17-storey high building will become the new 564,000 square foot headquarters for Deutsche Bank. It sits atop a complicated series of piles and steel trusses spanning Moorgate station and a new Crossrail ticket hall. In keeping with the tradition, bagpipe music marked the start of the “topping out” ceremony, which was held on the 13th floor of the building, before an evergreen bough was secured to the scaffolding by the main contractor, Sir Robert McAlpine.
A host of guests, including representatives from Landsec, WilkinsonEyre and Robert Bird & Partners attended the ceremony. They acknowledged the outstanding collaboration which has enabled the construction of such a complex building whilst dealing with the additional challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
WilkinsonEyre has worked on the scheme for nearly 10 years, with Deutsche Bank confirming their decision to take the site in 2017.
