The University of Westminster has announced Fiona Gyamfi as the inaugural recipient of the new WilkinsonEyre Scholarship. Honouring Chris Wilkinson's legacy, this bursary is a fantastic initiative aimed at supporting promising and dedicated students.
WilkinsonEyre is proud to commemorate one of its founding partners by supporting his alma mater, the University of Westminster, in their mission to foster diverse talent through the WilkinsonEyre Scholarship. Through this bursary, we aim to remove one of the many barriers to entry and inspire future talent.
The WilkinsonEyre Scholarship seeks to make studying architecture more accessible by providing a £10,000 bursary to second-year students enrolled in Westminster’s Architecture BA Honours course for two years. The scholarship also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4: Quality Education and 10: Reduced Inequalities.
Fiona Gyamfi said: "To be the first Architecture scholar to receive such an incredible award as the WilkinsonEyre Scholarship is surreal. Having my work, ambitions, and efforts recognised and supported is beyond encouraging, especially as a student who otherwise wouldn’t have access to opportunities like these. The chance for promising students to be acknowledged and supported is vital in this industry, as it helps bridge the obstacles and challenges that could impact their journey into the profession. Being recognised as a student with potential is inspiring and heartening. I’m deeply grateful for the support, patronage, and experience the scholarship will provide, thanks to the generosity of WilkinsonEyre."
Simay Sali Sevik, Westminster Development Manager said: “This partnership not only honours Chris Wilkinson’s remarkable legacy but also embodies the power of collaboration in creating meaningful change. By removing financial barriers, this scholarship is opening doors for talented students like Fiona Gyamfi to thrive in architecture—a field that benefits greatly from diverse perspectives and voices.”
