The new office scheme at 130 Fenchurch Street has received unanimous approval from the City of London Corporation’s Planning Applications Sub-Committee.
Designed by WilkinsonEyre, the building features a striking, staggered silhouette defined by a distinctive crown, creating a strong connection with its surroundings and a visual link to the neighbouring roof garden at 120 Fenchurch.
The new City of London scheme incorporates innovative sustainability measures, targeting leading industry certifications including BREEAM, NABERS and WELL.
Seed130, a new temporary cultural space hosting collaborative projects during the building’s vacancy, has already welcomed more than 3,700 visitors since opening earlier this year.
Tom Sleigh, Chairman of the City of London Corporation Planning and Transportation Committee, said:
“130 Fenchurch captures our ambition to unlock growth: a striking new workplace in the heart of the City, with routes and views that open it up for everyone. This is about more than one building; it is part of a pattern of proactive planning decisions that are helping to shape a future-ready Square Mile, greener, denser, more dynamic, and firmly aligned with the UK growth mission. Planning can be a growth engine, and 130 Fenchurch proves it. We are delivering jobs, public space and best-in-class offices at the scale the UK economy needs.”
The existing building is scheduled for demolition in 2026 and the new proposals, for completion in 2030. Read the full City of London report here.
