We're excited to share that 8 Bishopsgate has been shortlisted for the BCO Awards
8 Bishopsgate contributes to the City of London’s cluster of tall buildings, providing a 50-storey, office-led, mixed-use asset for Mitsubishi Estate London. The scheme provides flexible retail space at the lower levels, extensive amenities for tenants throughout the building and a public viewing gallery, The Lookout, at level 50.
The building includes high sustainability/low energy initiatives in its construction and operation and has achieved a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating. 8 Bishopsgate is understood to be the most sustainable speculative tall commercial scheme in the UK.
Publicly accessible amenities account for 5% of the building, starting with the ground floor public café, upper floor mezzanine café with lounges and break-out workspaces, and a 200-seat auditorium with retractable seating. Level 26 is dedicated to a restaurant, cafe, and bar accessible to all tenants. The building steps back at this level, providing a generous terrace for people to enjoy. The Lookout is a free public viewing gallery on the 50th floor, with views of the City 200m below.
The Lookout is an admission-free public viewing gallery with uninterrupted views of many City landmarks. The public can book tickets for free in advance online, or if space is available, walk-in without booking. Since opening in August, it has become a popular local attraction, with time slots booked out several months in advance and over 40,000 visitors to date.
