Located at the southern side of Holborn Circus between New Fetter Lane and St Andrew Street, the new ten storey building will deliver 89,000 sq ft of workspace as well as 2,000 sq ft of ground floor retail. Designs by WilkinsonEyre feature a range of whole-life carbon and circular principles, as well as an emphasis on biophilia; alongside the office accommodation, the proposal also brings forward a new south-facing public park, restoring greenery to this dense urban area and creating an oasis in this part of the City.
Yasmin Al-Ani Spence, Project Director at WilkinsonEyre, says:
“We are delighted that our designs for the redevelopment of Thavies Inn have received planning approval. Our proposals seek to create not only a positive, sustainable and healthy workplace but also a building that engages positively with its urban setting, recalling the history of Holborn Circus and embracing the City of London tradition of pocket parks. This new public space, away from the bustle of the highway, will offer a moment of calm for both future occupiers of the building and the passing public.”
